About 6 lakh participants from more than 100 countries and 20 international organisations participated in the India AI Impact Summit 2026 held from February 16-21, 2026.  Prime Minister Narendra Modi advocated for a human-centric, ethical AI framework (M.A.N.A.V. vision). Here are five key takeaways from the summit:

India’s Leadership & Inclusive Vision

India positioned itself as a voice for the Global South and emerging markets, championing AI technology that is equitable, accessible and human-centric. The Seven Chakras and India’s MANAV vision emphasised ethics, accountability, sovereignty, accessibility and legitimacy.

Heavy Investment & Infrastructure Commitments

The event catalysed large investment commitments from global and Indian companies, aimed at AI infrastructure, data centres, GPUs, and ecosystem build-out, signalling a shift from policy talk to capital deployment and execution readiness.

Innovation & Local AI Capability

Several AI models and breakthroughs were showcased, including advanced indigenous language models and technologies, underlining India’s intent to develop sovereign AI capabilities tailored to language diversity, real-world use cases, and local needs rather than just consuming foreign Large Language Models (LLMs).

Focus on Real-World Impact

The summit highlighted practical AI applications across sectors, from healthcare, agriculture, and education to governance and public services, emphasising solutions that can improve welfare, equity, and service delivery at scale.

Global Consensus on AI Governance

The summit concluded with the New Delhi Declaration on AI Impact, signed by around 90 nations and international organisations, stated a Press Information Bureau (PIB) release, outlining shared principles for collaborative, trusted, ethical, and inclusive AI development and governance on a global scale, which marked a major diplomatic milestone in AI policy cooperation.
