Noida and Greater Noida To Get 6 Water Police Outposts
The aim of the proposed police outposts is to ensure law and order near the water bodies and act fast in emergencies
Noida and Greater Noida are likely to get six water police outposts near religious locations, riverine and canals. The Gautam Budh Nagar Police Commissionerate, under the guidance of Police Commissioner Laxmi Singh, has planned it with the aim to ensure public safety, execute rescue operations, and proper law enforcement near water bodies frequented by devotees and tourists, Times of India reported.
According to the proposal, the Greater Noida zone will get four outposts: in the Yamuna riverine area near Kambakshpur village under the Knowledge Park police station, near the Kot canal under the Dadri police station, near the Kherli canal culvert under the Dankaur police station, and in the Yamuna canal area near Chandigarh village under the Rabupura police station.
In the Noida zone, one police outpost is proposed to be established near the eastern side of Okhla Barrage beneath the Kalindi Kunj Yamuna Bridge under Sector 126 police station, another in the Central Noida zone along the Hindon river under the Ecotech 3 police station.
Each outpost will have a chowki in charge, head constables and constables, two rescue boats, two boat drivers, and two assistant drivers. The staff will maintain peace and law and order at ghats, manage crowds, and carry out rescue operations in an emergency. They will also ensure that the boats are not loaded beyond capacity.
Volunteers and local private divers will also be associated with each outpost for quick action during emergencies.
The objective of establishing new outposts is for proactive monitoring and rapid response mechanisms as footfall around rivers and canals increases during Kanwar Yatra, Chhath Puja, Durga Puja, and other religious celebrations.
