International Women’s Day: Noida Authority Felicitates Women Making The City Clean & Green

When women take the lead, change rarely stays small — it spreads through families, neighbourhoods and communities. Celebrating this spirit on International Women’s Day, the Noida Authority is hosting a week-long programme titled “Naari Leads Swachhata” from March 8 to March 14, 2026, at Shilp Haat, Sector-33 A, Noida, to recognise and encourage the role of women in building a cleaner and more responsible society.

On the second day of the event, March 9, 2026, female sanitation workers were honoured and a free health check-up camp was organised for them. Residents also took a cleanliness pledge led by Additional Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Noida Authority Vandana Tripathi and Officer on Special Duty (OSD) Indu Prakash Singh. In addition, several women from different fields were honoured for their work in waste management, empowerment of disabled students, and dedicated service as employees of the Noida Authority. The day also featured a lively Zumba session for sanitation workers, who were seen enjoying themselves as they moved to energetic beats.

Women Leading the Way

Speaking about their experience after being honoured, the awardees shared that the recognition has motivated them to continue their work with greater dedication and enthusiasm.

Maya Kulshrestha, Kathak artist and founder of Anjana Welfare Society, says she felt deeply encouraged after receiving the award for working with disabled students in Noida. According to her, the recognition from the Noida Authority is a proud moment and inspires her to keep contributing to the community.

Echoing a similar sentiment, Garima Tripathi, Secretary of the Noida Citizen Forum, says, “Such awards motivate individuals to keep improving and doing meaningful work.” She emphasised that people should always use their position and abilities for the right reasons and continue supporting women to become part of the mainstream.

For Ranu Kalra, a resident of Grand Omaxe, Sector 93B, the recognition serves as a strong inspiration to continue working with greater enthusiasm. She highlighted that her efforts remain focused on spreading awareness about waste management and encouraging residents to adopt responsible waste practices.

Sharing her perspective, Pooja Mishra, Consultant for Waste Management at the Noida Authority, says, “Women should not ask for equality but rather feel equal in every space.” She also pointed out that many women still face challenges at workplaces and at home. As a working mother of a 15-month-old child, she admitted that balancing responsibilities can be difficult, but recognition like this strengthens her motivation to continue her work.

Meanwhile, Manisha Singh, Assistant Engineer at the Noida Authority, described the award as unexpected yet deeply encouraging. She added, “Women are strong and capable, but it is equally important for them to take care of themselves and prioritise their well-being.”
