Noida Airport Gets Security Clearance, Awaiting Aerodrome Licence
Commercial operations at the Noida Airport to start after the DGCA issues aerodrome licence
The Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) on Thursday gave security clearance to the Noida International Airport at Jewar in Gautam Buddha Nagar. The Noida International Airport Limited (NIAL), the government agency monitoring the project, is now awaiting the aerodrome licence from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) following which commercial operations from the airport will begin.
According to NIAL sources, DGCA will carry out the final inspection and issue the aerodrome licence within a week of the completion of the review, Times of India reported. Airlines like Air India, Akasa and IndiGo will open ticket bookings and domestic passenger flights, and cargo operations are expected to begin once the licence is issued. International operations from the airport are also likely to start from September.
The BCAS, which had been conducting the inspections for the last few months, has given approval of the Bomb Threat Contingency Plan (BTCP), Anti-Hijack Contingency Plan (AHCP), and Airport Security Programme (ASP). The clearance has come after the operator filled the gaps pointed out by the BCAS team.
