Noida’s Vehicular Traffic To Be Eased, Drains To Be Grated

Noida Authority is taking proactive measures related to the repairing of roads worth around Rs 16 crore that’ll cover busy roads, markets and residential sectors to improve city’s traffic.

Sectors 47, 48, 100 and 107 are the key areas, along the Dadri-Surajpur-Chalera (DSC) corridor, where major works are to be carried out, the Times of India reported. Service roads along the DSC t-point towards Sky Mark Mall, the Vohamahadev junction and several 18-metre and 24-metre internal roads will be levelled. Roads dotted with pots and uneven surfaces, especially at red lights where vehicles slow down, are also to be repaired. Estimated cost of the project is Rs 14.6 crore.

Filling potholes, repairing tiles, repainting the central verges and pedestrian area on Kailash Road, Gijhore, ESI Road and in Sectors 22, 23, 24, 52, 53, 61 and 70 is in the pipeline. Noida Authority’s objective is to prevent roads from gradually thinning due to encroachment and unorganised parking. These projects are estimated to cost approximately Rs 1 crore.

An open and damaged drain, in Sector 32A, in front of Logix Mall, that incessantly causes waterlogging and forces pedestrians onto the road will be plastered with concrete slabs. The Rs 7 lakh project aims to restore both road width and pedestrian safety.

On similar lines, the problem exists along the MP-3 road near the Morna green belt, where an open drain and broken road edge force pedestrians to close on to the main traffic near the intersection. The Authority’s plan to cover the drain and strengthen the roadside would cost around Rs 12 lakh.

In Sector 8, drains are to be repaired at multiple points to prevent rainwater from accumulating along the road edges and damaging the surface at Rs 11 lakh.

Aghapur village will witness drain maintenance, concrete repairs, mesh fixing and culvert upgrades. This is being done keeping in view the rainwater flows into proper channels instead of spilling onto the approach roads which is touted at about Rs 45 lakh.

The objective is to make the roads safer and smoother, sources state. Fixing of faults that often accentuates to accidents, especially during rains and peak traffic hours is also one of the aims.
